44104 - Corneal Topography and Endothelial Microscopy (Internship)

Academic Year 2012/2013

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Orthoptics and Assistance in Ophthalmology (for certified professional orthoptists and assistants in ophthalmology) (cod. 0163)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the study, students should be able to recognize the mainabnormalities of the corneal surface with their refractive implications and to effectively interpret measurements and data drawn by automated keratometry.

Course contents

This course explores the many aspects of the nature and measurements of the corneal surface. Its structure and the factors that influence it are described. Reflection topography, scanning slit topography, and keratometric indexes are explained. Principles of endothelial microscopy are described.
