Course contents

 

Geometrical infrastructure of cartography

Geodetic and Cartographic National systems: Geodetic systems:Roma 40, ED50, WGS84,

Cartographic systems.  Gauss-Boaga, UTM_ED50, UTM_WGS84.

Cartographic Mapping. Generality on the problem of representation. Deformation modules. Analytical approach to cartographical mapping.

Projections used in Italy. Cassini Soldner. Cadastral cartography and its digital form.

Samson - Flamsteed. Gauss and Gauss-Boaga Projection. Contracted coordinates

Italian cartography.

Maps from  IGM  : Series 25 v, Series25/50,  Series 25 DB.

International system UTM (ED50). The new System UTM_WGS84.

Regional cartography: Technical (1:10000, 1:5000) cartography. Available products in graphic and digital form.  Cartography at high scale (1:2000, 1:1000, 1:500).

Determination of the coordinates in the cartographic elements at different scale.

Graphical, vectorial and raster products realized by IGM and Emilia Romagna Region..

 

Numerical cartography 

Cartography computing: digital data representation: raster and vector mode and some exchange format. Digital tablet. Scanner. !!Discretizzazione!! and scanning of existing cartography.

Georeferencing process. Principal transformation models useful to georeferencing and parameters estimate method. Georeferenced formats.

General charateristics of numerical cartography.

Nominal scale concept. Metrical contents. Informative contents. Inventory of conventional signs.

Coding, production, maintenance and updating.

Analytical photogrammetry.

Photogrammetry method notes. Picture and metric camera. Reconstruction of projectivity and model. Analytical approach. Certificate of calibration. Internal and external orientation and relative and absolute. Reconstruction of orientation and restitution.

Support function and aerial triangulation.

Production process of numerical cartography at wide scale.

Aerial photogrammetric usage on modern cartography production. Production process. Tenders, amministratve regulations. Test techniques. Quality control and testing of production, flight, arrangement, T.A:, restitution, recognition, editing. Coding systems !!vestizione!! File transfering. Geometrical congruence.

High resolution satellite images and their processing.

Physical principles of remote sensing. Digital images, acquisition parameters of images, acquisition systems. Radiometric and geometrical image distortion, correction models (parametric and non-parametric). Principal high-resolution satellite systems, application on high-resolution.

Topographic database

Database general concepts, conceptual design, logical design, hierarchical model, reticular model, introduction to relational model. Relations, normal type, integrity rules, physical design, SQL.
