Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to deepen the students' knowledge of the Theatre of the spanish Golden Age.

Course contents

Introduction to the main problems related to spanish theater of the Golden Age. The first period (XVIth century); The "Commedia dell'arte" in Spain; Theater as a massive phenomenon; Lope de Vega and the "Arte nuevo"; tragic and comic patterns; poetic language and drama. Spanish classical theater and the present movie market.
