19092 - Environmental Technical Physics I

Academic Year 2010/2011

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Cesena
  • Corso: Single cycle degree programme (LMCU) in Architecture (cod. 0881)

Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to provide the basic elements of applied thermodynamics, heat transfer, applied acoustics, lighting, heating, ventilating and air conditioning, with particular reference to design criteria for the comfort conditions in indoor spaces.

Course contents

Applied  thermodynamics: mass and energy balances for closed and open systems – thermodynamics cycles – gas-vapour mixtures and air conditioning – human comfort and air conditioning – air conditioning processes. Heat transfer: introduction to heat transfer - heat conduction - natural and forced convection – radiation heat transfer – overall heat transfer.  Applied Acoustics: building acoustics, architectural acoustics, environmental acoustics – noise and buildings – room acoustics, reverberation time – material properties: sound absorption and sound insulation. Lighting: artificial lighting of interiors and of outdoor environments – natural lighting of interiors. Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning Plants: thermal comfort, indoor air pollution – heating of buildings, energy needs, energy saving – air conditioning needs in buildings.
