Course contents
Baltic Finns (Finns, Karelians, Estonians).
We will study the Baltic Finns from a comparative viewpoint and we will underline those aspects which mainly characterize their culture, in relation to that of the other Finno-Ugrians too.
We will consider their history, popular traditions, mythology and written and oral literature.
A particular examination will be made of the archaic elements of the ancient world view in popular literature.
An analysis will be made of the forms of melancholy in the literature.
