Learning outcomes

Knowledge on animals microbial ecology, the environmental sources of fecal bacteria, classical and molecular methods to measure fecal bacteria, modulation of intestinal microbiota troughout probiotic and prebiotic.

Course contents

Classical and molecular methods to measure fecal bacteria, digestive apparatus, symbiotic associations, the gut microbiota, interaction between microbes and the host, the immune system. Probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics. The fecal pollution of water. Methane from  faeces anaerobic digestion.
