Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student knows the most important theoretic models of linguistics. He knows the different levels into which language can be analysed: phonetic/phonologic, morphologic, syntactic and semantic. He can compare the different models, he knows how to collect and analyse data. He also knows typological problems and the universals of language. He can build up a scientific argumentation and detect linguistically meaningful generalisations due to his knowledge of the epistemological bases of the discipline.
Course contents
The course aims at offering students a deeper analysis of word formation in Italian and turning their attention on the organisation of the lexicon, with particular attention to semantics. Students will be introduced to the basics of linguistic pragmatics and of generative syntax.
