Introduction to Organic Chemistry. Electronic structure and bonding. Acidity and basicity. Organic compounds: nomenclature, physical properties and structural formulas.

Hydrocarbons, stereochemistry and resonance. Alkanes and alkenes: structure, nomenclature and introduction to reactivity - Kinetic versus thermodynamic control. Free radicals. Alkenes reactions. Stereochemistry: position of atoms in space. Alkynes reactions. Delocalization and resonance energy.

Chemical structures and reactions of notable organic compounds. Alkyl halides. Alcohols. Ethers, thiols and sulfides. Aromatic compounds. Aldehydes and ketones. Carboxylic acids and derivatives. Amines. Heterocyclic compounds.

 Bio-organics molecules. Amino acids. Monosaccharides. Nucleosides.
