Course contents

The Fourier law and Fourier equation. Thermal conduction in steady and one-dimensional problems. Conduction in solids with temperature-dependent thermal properties. Conduction in solids with internal power generation. Thermal resistances. Heat transfer in fins and extended surfaces. Thermal convection. Fundamental equations of non fluid motion. Forced convection.  Natural and mixed convection. Thermal radiation. Definition of black body and fundamental laws of radiation on black bodies. Heat exchangers.

Assessment methods

The final exam is a written test. The student will have to be able to solve some exercises similar to those seen during the course.
If the written test is sufficiently solved, the student will have to answer to some theoretical questions.
