Course contents
Kriemhilt between Nibelungenlied and Diu Klage.
One among the Nibelungenlied manuscripts is entitled “The Kriemhilt's Poem”. Kriemhilt, sister of the Burgundian king, Siegfried's and afterwards Attila's wife, courteous damsel and then merciless revenger, is surely the central and more complex character of the Nibelungenlied . In the poem Diu Klage , which is often transmitted together with the Nibelungenlied , the author intends to restore Kriemhilt's dignity, which was widely jeopardized at the end of the poem. In order to better understand Kriemhilt's role, the course will proposed an analysis of the Nibelungen cycle together with the linguistic and philological reading of Nibelungenlied strophes 1-3, 2366-2379, and lines 556-586 from Diu Klage .
