Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to present concepts and models used by business economics to study the firm behavior and the sector dynamics. Particular attention will be payed to the analysis of market forms and of sector structure.

  • Traditional firm theory: costs, revenues and profits
  • Traditional firm theory:perfect competition, monopoly and monopolistic competition

SECOND PART: Sector economics

  • The sector as a subset of the economic system
  • Sector analysis
  • The analysis of the demand
  • The analysis of the supply
  • Firm behavior analysis
  • Performance analysis
  • Local systems of production: the industrial district
