Learning outcomes
Orthoptic visit on adults and children, characterized by the
collection of history and subsequently from refractive exam, using
corrective lenses, and a orthoptic visit to highlight any motor
deficits of extrinsic eye muscles. Acquiring a good practice in the
use of lensmeter for reading the power of corrective lenses, of the
autorefractor and of the ophthalmometer to assess the degree of
corneal astigmatism.

Irvine test • Assessment of fusion power • Binocular sensioriality

cover-uncover test • Measurement of strabic deviation: cover test
and prisms, Hirschberg test , Krimsk test • Hess Lancaster screen
test, drums of Maddox, red glass tests, Bielschowsky tests • Using

Slides and notes of lessons distributed on computer.
Teaching methods
Classes will be based on the explanation of operation of various
diagnostic tools and investigation techniques used. Students can
also check their level of learning by participating actively in the
patients visits alongside highly specialized personal.
Assessment methods
At the end of the course will be made an oral examination which
consist in discussing a case after that the student has done all
instrumental investigations of the case.
