Learning outcomes

By learning the basic principles that underlie the physiologic regulation of somatic and vegetative variables, the students will understand how physiologic regulation is integrated to maintain homeostasis.

The respiratory system: the mechanics of breathing

The respiratory system: gas exchange and regulation of breathing

The urinary system: salt-water balance

Teaching methods

Lectures. In the course of the lectures, the basic principles regarding the physiology of organs and systems will be discussed taking advantage of the graphs and images published on the recommended textbook.

Assessment methods

Oral examination, which will cover the topics discussed in the lectures.
