Learning outcomes

The course proposes him the close examination of the themes of greater interest and  meaning in the Hispanic-American literatures as the discussion, developed with seminarial formality, of theoretical and methodological matters inherent the faced themes.

Course contents

The birth of the fifth sun: the foundations of the Aztec culture 
 
The course will take charge of the study, with direct translation of the nahuatl and comments, of one of the basic texts of the Aztec culture: the cosmogonic myth content in the book VII of the Universal History of the Things of New Spain, written by Bernardino de Sahagún.

Teaching methods

The course foresees, besides the frontal lessons, the close, seminarial examination of some themes, as of the theoretical and methodological tools, correlated to the studied sources.

Assessment methods

The students will have to compile an essay (tesina), whose formalities will be illustrated in detail to proper time. It will follow an oral test, that will serve for connecting the matters, develops in the essay, to the general themes of the course.

Teaching tools

They will be used, mainly, the video projection of images and texts, prepared to the computer, and, eventually, software for the textual analysis.
