  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LS) in Health and Quality of Animal-based Products (cod. 0404)

Learning outcomes

Giving basic knowledge on the effects of environment on fish farming and on the effects of fish farming on environment.

Course contents

Fish farms incoming and outcoming water quality, incoming waters effects on productions, environmental impact of farms.

Effects of contaminants and mixtures on individuals and farmed and wild populations; populations adaptations to pollutants and waste waters. Main biomarkers of exposure and effect; exposure modeling; models for ecotoxicity evaluation.

Environmental fate of xenobiotics: long and short range transport, bioaccumulation, biomagnification, abiotic transformation. Stability as basic aspect for xenobiotics toxicity.
