Learning outcomes

The course aims at providing students with basic concepts and methods
used in the study of economics (both microeconomics and macroeconomics)
in order to be able to understand the main current economic facts.

Course contents

Introductory economic principles.The economic science, microeconomics
and macroeconomics. Analysis methods of economics, economic systems and economic subjects.
Microeconomics: principles and tools. Human needs, economic goods and
utility, consumer choice, demand, supply, elasticity, price, exchange
and markets. Production theory: production factors, firms and
entrepreneur, production function, costs and revenue, optimum level of
production. Market structure: perfect competition, monopoly, oligopoly,
monopolistic competition.
Macroeconomics: principles and tools. Macroeconomic circular flow,
national accounting, income, consumption and investment. Real markets
equilibrium and demand multiplier.
Money, monetary theories, monetary equilibrium. Monetary policy and
fiscal policy, inflation. Economic development and European integration..
