Learning outcomes

The Course is meant to offer a survey of the main theoretical models and analitycal methodologies of interpersonal communication. It focuses the miscommunication, the links between narrative and interaction, and the implicit and non-verbal communication.

Course contents

In the first part the following topics will be treated:

 

  • Language comprehension process
  • Theoretical models of communication
  • Pragmatical functions of communication and implicit communication: conflict, miscommunication and politeness
  • Non Verbal communication (CNV)

 

In the core part the following topics will be treated:

 

  • Communication and destructive emotions: anger

Teaching methods

The Course will provide lessons, presentation and joint discussion of audio/video taped material about communicative activities, simulation sessions of specific interactional skills. 

 

Assessment methods

A written examination (open questions) and an oral examination are required.

The oral examination can be sustained only if:

- the answer to all the written questions is given

- each answer reaches the sufficient score
