Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student: - knows the main concepts and theoretical approaches for the organizational analysis; - knows the main concepts for the analysis of professions, jobs, and tasks; - knows and can understand the features of the Italian labour market; - can analyze the transformations of work in contemporary society; - knows how to analyze the processes of work organizations; - knows how to analyze the processes of socialization in organizational contexts.

Course contents

Referring to the main concepts and topics of the sociology of labour (the division of labour, the job contents, the analysis of the labour market, etc.) and sociology of organization (the structure, the environment, the culture, etc.), the focus will be on the following topics:

- the changes in the organisation of work in the manufacturing and the services sector;

- the organisational innovation;

- the changes in the labour market;

- the consequences of new forms of organisation of production on industrial relations and in particular on the labour movement.

Teaching methods

Lectures and classroom discussions.

 

 

Assessment methods

The exam is written with 2 open-ended questions (60 minutes). The questions aim above all at verifying the acquisition of the knowledge and the application of knowledge, the ability to understand and think critically. The exam will be assessed taking into account the above-mentioned aspects as well as the organisation and completeness of the content.
