Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the student will be able to conduct an evaluation of the design and compositional system of a building, to identify and analyse its functional constraints, and to explore the possibilities of  transforming and reconfiguring the spaces.

Course contents

The course is intended to introduce the student to the elements and principles of residential interior design in order to satisfy an ever-increasing demand for better quality homes. Therefore, spatial quality and recognisability will be analysed to research an appropriate design theme between the entire building architectural style and its internal space design, with reference to dimensions and proportion of elements, functional layout, lighting, building materials. For this purpose, particular attention will be paid to the basic elements of the internal space.

Teaching methods

It will be given a number of ex cathedra lectures on contemporary interior design. During the lectures will be illustrate important case studies of examples of the experience of the masters of architecture.
There will be some exercises in class of the topics covered during lectures on the theme of architecture of the interior.
Periodic desk review will be verify the requests assignments.

Assessment methods

The final learning assessment is performed through the creation and presentation of a summary plate of the exercises carried out during the module.
The summary plate will be presented orally by the student and he will have to prove that by an appropriate use of language the knowledge of the topics covered during the lectures.
The evaluation will take into account the content, graphics rendering and presentation skills.

Teaching tools

In addition to lectures and lab exercises, it will provides students with specific bibliography that will allow them to explore the themes treated.
