1. Understand the key concepts and trends in fintech, and the potential impact on the financial industry.

2. Develop skills to effectively pitch fintech business ideas to potential investors.

3. Explore different fintech verticals and their unique challenges and opportunities.

4. Analyze case studies of fintech ventures in crowdfunding, insurtech, payments, and financial inclusions.

5. Create and present a comprehensive fintech business plan.

Course contents

This course provides an in-depth exploration of the rapidly evolving landscape of financial technology (fintech). Students will examine the latest technologies and megatrends shaping the fintech industry, learn how to pitch fintech business ideas to potential investors, explore various fintech verticals, and analyze real-world case studies in crowdfunding, insurtech, payments, and financial inclusions. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to develop and present their fintech business ideas.

Throughout the course, you will be assigned 3 case studies available on the Harvard Business Publishing website.

Teaching methods

The course will include theoretical lessons, analysis and discussions of case studies, guest presentations, and, most importantly, active student involvement through the use of in-class presentations.

Assessment methods

Attending students:

- Class participation based on engagement in discussions, individual or group assignments related to case studies and business plan development (30% of the total mark)

- Final presentation of fintech business idea assessed by the instructor and through peer evaluation (40% of total mark)

- Final exam for attending students (30% of total mark)

 

Non-attending students and attending students who fail the course:

A more comprehensive final exam covering all the readings and the case studies (100% of the total mark)

 

The grade is graduated as follows:

<18 failed
18-23 sufficient
24-27 good
28-30 very good
30 e lode excellent
