Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student possesses the ability to apply knowledge and understanding regarding occupational therapy. Can identify the limitations of skills and participation in social life through the main systems for measuring autonomy. Can plan and implement interventions to improve the autonomy allowed by the residual potential in people with disabilities.

  • Definition of Occupational Therapy: historical notes and theoretical principles
  • The figure of the Occupational Therapist and comparison between the relative professional profile and that of the Physiotherapist
  • Evaluation of the person: concepts of function, autonomy, independence, empowerment
  • Definition of Aids, Orthoses and Prostheses and the role of the Physiotherapist in the proposal, personalization and training in the use of the various aids
  • ISO 9999-2011 classification, Tariff Nomenclator, and DgR 1599/2011
  • Italian portal on the evaluation of aids (SIVA-Milan)
  • Manual and electronic wheelchairs: technical characteristics, customizations, methods of use
  • Personal care aids
  • Bath aids and sanitary services
  • Anti-decubitus surfaces
  • Assistive products for transfer and lifting
  • Walking aids and orthoses
  • Home automation, home care aids, architectural barriers, adaptations to the home environment, legislation in support of disability (CAAD network, CRA, CAT, L. Reg. 29 / '97, L. 13 / '89)
  • Static and dynamic orthoses for the upper and lower limbs
  • Lower and upper limb prostheses
