Academic Year 2022/2023

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Humanities (cod. 8850)

Learning outcomes

With this course the student will learn the knowledge of the bases of the philological disciplines and of the Italian philology particularly, with essential notions of history of the tradition and textual criticism. The focus is to recompose the elaboration of a literary work and to read in a correct way the critical edition of an ancient and modern text.

Course contents

Philology is not a method, but a mental habit. The course aims to address the theoretical foundations of Italian philology through problems rather than precepts. In the classroom, following the guidelines of the manual, photographic reproductions of handwritten and printed texts and edition examples will also be examined to clarify the issues.

Readings/Bibliography

Francesco Bausi, La filologia italiana, Bologna, il Mulino, 2022 (only selected parts to be agreed with the teacher).

Teaching methods

The course is divided into 30 lectures of two hours each (60 hours in total) which will take place during the second semester of the Academic Year 2022-2023.
