Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student: - knows and understands the main results of important research and monitoring activities related to educational interventions; - is able to set up observation tools for the analysis of contexts and needs in situations of social and individual discomfort; - is able to design interventions related to the social and cultural field and evaluate the results with appropriate procedures; - knows how to apply techniques and tools for the evaluation of educational interventions and projects; - is able to contribute to the organisation and management of monitoring of interventions aimed at reducing individual or group marginalisation; - is able to analyse and critically interpret data relating to the evaluation of interventions and educational projects; - is able to use the results of empirical and experimental research to analyse and address different and changing socio-educational and cultural contexts.


Course contents

The course is focused on the development of knowledge and skills related to planning and assessment in education, within the various fields of action for social and cultural educator. After analyzing the main approaches to planning and assessment in the field of education we will focus on the main elements of a planning path in order to develop the following competences and abilities:

  • understanding the characteristic of an educational environment;
  • recognising stakeholdes' educational needs;
  • defining purposes, aims and goals of a project;
  • identifying the most appropriate methods and strategies for goal achievement;
  • applying the techniques and tools for project assessment.
