Learning outcomes

The goal of the workshop is providing to the student some skills and attitude, as like: - knows the business dynamics that affect the selection of staff (what skills you are looking for, how to move in a professional context, what are the decision-making centers, the different business styles); - master the logics, content and ways with which to prepare different CVs and cover letters depending on the selection for which you intend to apply; - knows how to build a network of relationships on professional social networks (LinkedIn) and knows how to create content appropriate to the goals of Personal Branding; - knows the techniques of Personal Branding as active research, improving one's skills to make themselves attractive, but also as an ability to showcase their skills in a professional way; - has acquired the relational skills that allow him to adequately approach a job interview, either individually or in a group.

Course contents

  • How to qualify the search for your job; motivations for looking for a particular job; what kind of labour market is represented today; what skills must be acquired to compete in the demand/supply of work; knowledge of one or more foreign languages
  • Which companies to choose and what to know about companies to show interest in "calling position". Where to search for formats to access your Resume/CV submission
  • Be able to create on your own an Europass CV, one Professional and last one in Infographic template, included the Cover Letter and the Motivation Letter; taking care of writing and syntax, checking errors, what kind of photos to insert and how to make your own professional photo; the minimum elements of the fields to be filled, the choice of layout and the care of the graphic style of the CV - Letters; reference the law of privacy, create a personal signature and how to define your own qualifying signature
  • Create your own branding through social and LinkedIn to promote yourself at companies; how to create a "smart video resume" by YouTube or Vimeo
  • Prepare for the interview by ZOOM, MEET, TEAMS, SKYPE; take care of the non-verbal communication and the skills of a good public speaking to handle "positively" an interview

Teaching methods

  • Students will be able to create and write in own sources in the classroom CVs format fundamental for the preparation of the CV of the Cover Letters, research of some portals/websites to create "smart CV" and the video CV on YouTube and Vimeo letters through some recommended portals and LinkedIn account. To complete some of these tasks, the student is asked to come to the classroom with their laptop or tablet, or take notes and references to complete the work at home through their PC.
  • Frontal lessons aimed at providing basic skills to manage body language, conversation, basic tips for personal care, which outfit to choose for a job interview
    Management of the timing for the rendezvous, the punctuality expected at the interview, how to avoid arriving late
  • The lectures will be attended by speakers from various production sectors of HR and Hi-Tech, Digital Marketing, Web Provider who will offer an additional contribution to understand the global labor market
  • In a session of the scheduled lessons 3 companies from the province of Bologna will intervene to simulate a job interview with 3 students selected by sending the CV and cover letters, where at the end they will explain the reasons for the choice of the short list and the final candidate

Assessment methods

  • Each student must submit 3 different CVs: one Europass, one Professional and one Infographic, and 3 corresponding cover letters (2 cover letters and 1 motivational), in 3 different templates, addressed to real existing companies, written in Italian and English, therefore there are total 12 files; it is also advisable to add a LinkedIn account and a Video CV (aka Video Resume), while considering these 2 additional tasks to be carried out in complete freedom. This work will be completed during the classroom lessons through the direct use of the laptops of the students present at the lessons.

  • Finally, it is required to get a self-assessment test of 30 multiple choices and true/false questions lasting about 15 minutes, and the test is considered passed with a minimum grade of 26/30, therefore, student has allowed to 3 attempts for each exam session if the minimum mark is not reached. The purpose of the test is to refresh the contents of the lessons that is the functional exercise of verifying the final objectives of the laboratory: preparing for the well know employability, i.e. how one must prepare in order to carry out a real job interview, through the various channels for sending the application, therefore, aiming at possible and only one possibility to be hired for the desired job position.

  • (*) Any Erasmus and International students will be issued an official certificate with a grade of "thirty" (30/30) according to the UNIBO's rules.

Teaching tools

  • During the lesson the course teacher will present the topics of the course through PowerPoint presentations, presentations with www.canva.com and presentations with www.prezi.com, web portals for compiling CVs and letters.
  • Qualified speakers will intervene during the lectures to add data and useful information for the choice of work involving junior doctors of economic sciences
  • Presentations in pdf files will then be uploaded to the virtual classroom of the course called "Virtual Learning Environment" year 2023
