LEARNING OUTCOMES

The seminar (Affreschi Room, Zamboni 34, from January 30th to March, 8th) aims to present, with a document-centred approach, the study of ancient and modern manuscripts through new technologies and DH. Since time immemorial, the manuscript has constituted one of the instruments of knowledge transmission and the fingerprint of creative thought. New technologies and the digital environment have radically changed the way manuscripts are studied, from the possibility of preserving and sharing them online, to investigations with highly sophisticated tools for stratigraphic analysis, data visualization and content presentation tools, Virtual exhibitions and Educational research path. We will follow the projects carried out by Libraries, Research Centres and Institutes in the application of new technologies and DH to the preservation, analysis, editions and dissemination of manuscripts. In the second part of the seminar, which requires face-to-face participation, students will develop, in small groups, their own DH project dedicated to a manuscript (Scholarly Digital Edition, Virtual exhibition or Didactic path).

The seminar consists of 12 meetings of 3 hours each. The maximum number of students is 30.
