Education
1981 - Technical (Mechanical) High School Diploma - Cento (FE), Italy;
1987 - University Diploma in Physics - University of Bologna, Italy.

Work experience
1987-1988 assembly programmer in the industrial automation field;
1988-2005 electronics and computer science teacher in High School;
In 1989 he began working as a research associate at the Faculty of Engineering University of Bologna, dealing with the application of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to porous media.
From 2005 until 2011 he has been Researcher at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Bologna.
From 2011 until 2022 he served has Associate Professor at the Department DICAM of School of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Bologna.
Since December 2022 he is Full Professor at the DICAM department of the University of Bologna.

Main research areas
Application of both nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and Fast Field Cycling (NMR FFC) to the characterization of porous media and of the saturating fluids;
Modelling and inverse problem;
Modeling and numerical simulation of reservoirs, aquifers and geothermal fields.

Publications
He is the co-author of more than 130 (scientific papers) publications, many of them published in international journals and international conference proceedings, mainly in the field of porous media characterization and fluids flow in porous media by means of NMR techniques.
