The Xylella emergency: the critical role of integrated management
More than ten years after its first appearance in Puglia, Xylella fastidiosa represents one of the most emblematic cases of a plant health crisis in Europe. The disease has demonstrated how globalisation, climate change and the movement of organisms can rapidly transform a local problem into a far-reaching economic and environmental crisis. Despite enormous advances in research, there is still no definitive solution: managing Xylella today requires an integrated approach that combines science, innovation, monitoring and collaboration between researchers, farmers and institutions.
