Plant Health and One Health: a global diplomatic challenge
Plant health is not just a matter for agriculture, but also concerns food security, the environment and the well-being of societies. International trade, climate change and human activities facilitate the spread of new pests and pathogens, making plant biosecurity a shared responsibility between governments, businesses and citizens.
A disease affecting a crop in a distant country can have economic and environmental consequences here too. For this reason, understanding the relationship between plant health and One Health will become increasingly important for future professionals in the agricultural and veterinary sectors.
