2020: International Year of Plant Health (IYPH)
FAO labels 2020 as International Year of Plant Health with the main objective of raising awareness among the major interest groups, policy makers and public opinion on the importance and the impact of plant health on issues of global importance, including food safety, hunger, poverty and threats to the environment and economic development.
The United Nations General Assembly invited FAO together with the IPPC Secretariat, to be the lead agency for IYHS-related activities, and invited governments, society civil society and the private sector to engage globally, regionally and nationally. Among the thousands of events taking place around the world in 2020 there will also be an international conference on plant health.
