Microbial taxonomy based on classical and molecular methods. Characterization of new bifidobacterial species. Study of cell-wall proteins and adesion mechanisms in intestinal microrganisms. Microbial ecology of gastrointestinal tract of man and animals.Study of bacteriocins of gram positive bacteria. Antibacteruial activity of natural and synthetic compounds. In vitro and in vivo studies of probiotics and prebiotics applied to man and animals. Functional food.
