Born in Bologna, he teaches History of medieval art, History of illumination, Food and visual arts and Art education in the Department of Arts of the local University, where he has a didactic activity for both BA and MA and for the Master in History and Culture of Food; has been invited for lessons and public talks by the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Uffizi in Florence, and by many other Universities, such as the Université François Rabelais in Tours (F), the Dickinson College in Carlisle (PA, USA) and the Mandalay University, Department of History (Myanmar). He has published a huge number of studies, especially about illumination and XIII-XV century painting. He is a member of the faculty board of the PhD program in History of Arts of Venice Ca' Foscari University.
