Dr. Francesco Orsini is a associate professor at the Dept. of Agricultural and Food Sciences (DISTAL), University of Bologna, Italy. Francesco is a FAO-UN consultant in urban agriculture projects in Asia, lati America and Africa. He coordinates the European Project FoodE (Food systems in European Cities, funded by H2020) and contributed to the following EU projects: FoodLand (Food and Local, Agricultural and Nutritional Diversity), InnoFarming (Innovative Indoor Farming Applications for Future Urban Farmers); Hortis (Horticulture in Towns for Inclusion and Socialisation); Urban Green Train (Urban Green Education for Enterprising Agricultural Innovation);SustUrbanFoods (Integrated sustainability assessment of social and technological innovations towards urban food systems); GardensToGrow (Urban Horticulture for Innovative and Inclusive Early Childhood Education).
From 2018, Dr. Orsini launched the International Student Challenge UrbanFarm.
From 2018, Dr. Orsini is the Chair of the Landscape and Urban Horticulture Division of the International Society for Horticultural Sciences (ISHS).
