FASCINATING AROMAS IN FRUITS AND TRANSDISCIPLINARY EDUCATION - ISA LECTURE VISITING PROFESSOR ONUR SEVINDIK
Bologna, Venerdì 8 maggio ore 17.30, presso l’aula L di via Beniamino Andreatta 8 "aule Belmeloro",
ISA Lecture del Visiting Professor Onur Sevindik “Fascinating aromas in fruits and transdisciplinary education”.
Aromas are key compounds in fruits, food, and in the environment. The complexity of aromas, influencing people preference for food, and the advanced analytical methods of these compounds will be presented. The relevant role and mode of actions of environmental volatile organic compounds in agroecology and agroforestry systems, an attractive research subject as a model for catching and sharing transdisciplinarity will be elucidated. The activity will highlight how these chemical signals structure ecological interactions and how they can be used as educational tools to introduce students to cross-disciplinary thinking.
In addition, Dr. Sevindik will introduce practical examples from his own research on fermented foods, phenolic compounds, and aroma-active molecules to show how laboratory-based analytical findings can be integrated with field-based agroecological observations, strengthening the educational dimension of One Health. This combination of theory and practice will provide participants with an immersive learning experience, enhancing their capacity to interpret biological phenomena through both scientific and societal lenses.
