Curriculum vitae

Riccardo Campione is an Associate Professor of Private Law at the School of Law of the University of Bologna, where he obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Law in 2006 and served as a Research Fellow from 2009 to 2014.

He currently holds the Chair in Private Law at the School of Law of the University of Bologna, as well as the course in EU Private Law at the School of Economics and Finance of the same University.

Among his previous teaching appointments are the courses in International Commercial Law and Company Law at the School of Economics, Management and Statistics of the same University.

From 2009 to 2016, he was Professor of European Private Law at the China–EU School of Law (C.E.S.L.) of the China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing (People’s Republic of China).

He is a corresponding member of the Associazione Civilisti Italiani.

He is a member of the Milan Bar and admitted to practise before the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation and other Higher Jurisdictions.

He served as a Lay Member of the Judicial Council of the Court of Appeal of Bologna in 2015 and 2016.

His professional practice focuses on litigation and arbitration in the fields of corporate, antitrust, insolvency and commercial law.

Possessing in-depth knowledge of modern artificial intelligence systems, he advises corporations on AI governance and accountability, as well as on regulatory compliance regarding the protection of corporate and personal data in the use of AI technologies.

He is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, seminars, and training courses organised by the professional councils of lawyers and chartered accountants, particularly on issues related to commercial and insolvency law.

He has contributed to the training programmes of leading law firms. Notably, between 2014 and 2016 he collaborated with Chiomenti Studio Legale, where he conducted seminars on the following topics: “Liability of Directors in Limited Liability Companies (S.r.l.)”, “Debt Restructuring Agreements”, and “New Mechanisms for the Resolution of Banking Crises”. In 2016, he held a seminar at White & Case LLP entitled “Sale and Purchase Agreements and the System of Business Warranties”.

At the School of Law of the University of Bologna, he organises the series “Business and Rules”, which has hosted leading companies in the fashion industry (including Nike, Furla, Teddy, La Martina) as well as major financial intermediaries (such as Citi, Kairos, and Unipol).

He is the author of more than eighty scholarly publications, including monographs, chapters in collective works, and articles in leading law journals.

He serves as Advisory Editor for Commercial Law at the University of Bologna Law Review and acts as Independent Referee for several peer-reviewed journals specialising in civil and commercial law.
