Associate professor at the University of Bologna since 2015. Her research interests and activities span several disciplines, namely sociolinguistics (the sociolinguistics of Irish Gaelic), audiovisual translation(dubbing, subtitling and voice-over), humour studies (i.e. the perception of dubbed and subtitled humour), the study of professional and non-professional linguistic mediation, child Language brokering.
Education
1999 Degree in Interpreting from the School of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators (SSLMIT) of the University of Bologna.
2012 PhD in Sociolinguistics with a thesis on Language Attitudes in Old and New Gaeltacht Areas.

Academic Career
After several years as a research fellow (2001 to 2005) at the University of Bologna, in 2006 she became Researcher in the disciplinary sector L-LIN/12 English Language and Translation at the School of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators of the University of Bologna, affiliated with the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies in Translation, Languages and Cultures.
In 2014 she obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor.
Since November 1, 2015, she is Associate Professor at the University of Bologna.
Teaching Activities
Since 2001 she has continuously carried out teaching activities as lecturer for various courses in Bachelor's, Master's, and Master’s degree programs for the former SSLMIT and for the Department of Interpretation and Translation.
She is currently a lecturer in Written and Oral Communication in English for the Degree Program in Languages and Technologies for Intercultural Communication; Audiovisual Translation between English and Italian for the Master's Program in Specialized Translation at the University of Bologna; Language Policy and Multilingualism for the International BA in European Studies.
From 2010 to 2013 she taught Subtitling and Voice-over in the Master’s Program in Screen Translation at the University of Bologna.
Research Activities
She has participated in national and international research programs including: (Inter)mediate Linguistic and Cultural Mediation by Young Users in Emilia-Romagna and Italy (University Strategic Project 2007) as founding member and coordinator; Promoting Intercultural Competence in Translators - PICT (Lifelong Learning Programme 2011-2013) as a member of the Italian partner (University of Bologna).
Reviewer for international and Italian scientific journals in the field of audiovisual translation, sociolinguistics, humour studies, interpreting and translation.

Founding member of the Umbria Film Festival Association which annually organizes an independent, low-cost film festival in Montone (PG) (www.umbriafilmfestival.com ).
Over the past 30 years has worked professionally as a freelance translator and interpreter, producing published translations in literature, the European film industry, manuals, and contracts.
In interpretation, works as a consecutive and liaison interpreter in legal, commercial, real estate, and scientific fields.
