Short Bio

Nadzieja Bąkowska, PhD, is an adjunct professor. She has held a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship in the field of Slavic Studies (Polish Literature, Self-Translation) at the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures (University of Bologna). She obtained a PhD cum laude in international cotutelle (University of Warsaw, University of Bologna) for her comparative study on comic structures and senses of metafiction in Luigi Pirandello’s and Witold Gombrowicz’s dramas. She graduated with a MA degree in Comparative, Modern and Postcolonial Literatures (University of Bologna) and with a BA degree in Polish Studies (University of Warsaw). Her main fields of scientific interest include Polish Literature, Polish-Italian literary contacts, presence of Polish Literature (especially theatrical works) in Italy, theory and practice of translation, self-translation, theory of literature, literary humour, didactics of Polish and Italian as foreign languages. She is the author of scientific articles, as well as translations of both literary and scientific texts from Polish into Italian and vice versa
