Scientific activity

Since 2004 she has been studying the role of inositide-dependent transduction pathways in myelodysplastic syndromes and acute myeloid leukemia. The results of these studies have been the subject of invited reports at national and international conferences dealing with signal transduction pathways or translational hematology, such as the "International Symposium on PI-PLC Activity and Signaling (Ulsan, Korea del Sud) and “AIL / LEUKEMIA” Meetings. Since 2008 it has research funds granted on a competitive basis and from national and international haematological associations, from the University of Bologna (Almaidea 2017) or from the MUR (PRIN 2015 and PRIN 2017).

In September 2014 she was awarded as the Best Under 40 Researcher of the Italian Society of Anatomy and Histology, for the excellence of the results obtained in scientific research in the morphological field and in 2008 and 2009 she obtained awards from the "Alfredo Saiardi" Association for diseases and by the Italian Society of Experimental Hematology.

Since 2015 she is Associate Editor of the journal "Advances in Biological Regulation" (Elsevier), in 2016 she was Guest Editor for Current Pharmaceutical Design and is now on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Molecular Sciences (MDPI), Frontiers in Oncology (Frontiers Publ) and Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry (Bentham Publ.).

Since 2010 she has been actively collaborating with East Carolina University (USA) and the UNIST School of Life Sciences (Ulsan, Korea). She has also established a long collaboration with the Hematology Institute "Seràgnoli" and the Department of Pediatrics of the IRCCS S. Orsola of Bologna, as well as with other Italian and international hematology centers (e.g. University of Brescia; University of Genoa; University of Oxford; Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center-New York, NY, USA; Harvard Stem Cell Institute, Cambridge, MA, USA), which have led to outstanding publications.

The results of the scientific activity are published in several high-impact journals, such as Leukemia, Clinical Cancer Research, Journal of Clinical Medicine, PNAS, Nature Medicine and New England Journal of Medicine.

Many of her publications were published on the journal cover or appeared in special sections of the journal website (eg Leukemia Cover; Journal of Cellular Physiology Cover or Prospect Feature).
