Scientific methodologies for the study of cultural heritage

- Archaeometry: historical and technological knowledge of the archaeological findings and works of art, characterisation of material, knowledge of the executive techniques for provenance and dating studies.

- Conservation Science and Preventive Conservation: evaluation of the state of conservation of findings and works of art by applying laboratory and archaeometric techniques for the analyses of cultural heritage materials and interactions with the environment to support restoration interventions and to plan monitoring and maintenance.

- Attribution and authentication: best practises and protocols.

- Strategies for the safeguarding of cultural heritage at risk: procedures for monitoring, preventing and mitigating the risks, systematization of documentation related to risks impacting on territorial areas (Risk Atlas- georeferenced tool), communication activities to engage the citizenship and increase awareness on cultural heritage and risks prevention.
