Marco Maglionico is Assistant Professor of Hydraulic
Constructions, Marine Engineering and Hydrology at the University
of Bologna (Italy). He was graduated in hydraulic engineering at the
University of Bologna (Italy) in 1993 (summa cum laude). He took
his Ph.D. in hydraulic engineering in 1998 at Milan Polytechnic.
From 1999 to 2001 he worked as post-doc researcher at the
University of Bologna.
From April 1, 2001 he is full time Researcher of Hydraulic
Constructions, Marine Engineering and Hydrology at the Department
DISTART of the University of Bologna.
He is currently teaching “Hydraulic Urban System” at the Faculty
of Engineering.
Marco Maglionico began his research activity in 1995, his main
fields of activity are: experimental and laboratory researches on
hydraulic and water quality aspects on urban drainage systems;
modelling and design of structures for hydraulic and pollution
control of stormwater; sustainable urban drainage (LID, green
roofs, etc.); modelling and reliability water supply networks;
water quantity and quality aspects in rivers.
He has participated to several National and International
Project. The main International project are:
- EU-funded Projects INNOVATION 10340I (1996-1999) "Application
for the Urban Pollution Management Procedure to River Quality
Protection in European Member States";
- “CARE-S Computer Aided REhabilitation of Sewer networks"
(2003-2005). under the 5th Framework Programme;
- "TRUST: Transitions to the Urban Water Services of
Tomorrow" (2011-2015) under the 7th Framework Programme.
- "LIFE15 ENV/IT7000423 AGROWETLANDS II Smart water and soil salinity management in Agro-wetlands (2016-2020)".
He was coordinator of the Working Group at the University of
Bologna of the National Research Project “Performance indicators
for the evaluation, the analysis and the reduction strategies of
the leakages in water distribution systems” (2006-2007) and of the
National Research Project “Influence of water scarcity scenarios on
the evaluation and the environmental and economic sustainability of
leakage reduction in water distribution networks" (2010-2011). He also participated to the project: "GST4Water - Green-smart technology for the sustainable use of water resources in buildings and in urban areas", project funded under the POR-FESR Emilia-Romagna Region (2016-2018).
Marco Maglionico is author of more than 100 scientific papers
published on Italian and international journals and conference
proceedings.
