Marcello Giugliano teaches Spanish language and linguistics at the University of Bologna. Previously, he taught Spanish linguistics at the University of Bern and translation studies at the University of Leipzig. He has worked on corpus-based critical discourse studies, corpus stylistics, translation of fictional orality and translation as ideological practice and intercultural communication.
His current research focuses on the critical and contrastive analysis of media discourses. His aim is to analyse the discursive practices by which different representations in the press of national identities of minority cultures cross geopolitical borders and are transmitted from one culture to another.
He has been part of several research projects (OFDYT, TRADIF) and research groups in European academic centres. Currently, he is a member of the GEDIT research group (Pompeu Fabra University).
