Prof Bartolini got her master degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical
Technology in 1998 at the University of Bologna and in 2003 she
defended her PhD thesis titled “development of analytical methods
for acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors characterization”. Since
September 2015 she works as associate professor at the Department of
Pharmacy and Biotechnology, University of Bologna. In 2001 she spent 8
months at the Gerontology Research Centre NIA/NIH, Baltimore,
carrying out a research project aimed at the development and
characterization of an immobilized enzyme reactor based on
glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase for on line enzymatic
studies; in 2006 she worked as Maître Assistante at the Laboratory
of Analytical Chemistry, University of Geneva (Switzerland) on the
development of a cytochrome P450-based bioreactor for drug
metabolism studies. Her work is mainly focused on: (1) development of fast automated
analytical techniques based on immobilized enzymes reactors to
screen and characterize new ligands for key target enzymes of pharmaceutical interest or with applications in proteomics and glycomics, (2) application of analytical techniques
to monitor beta-amyloid aggregation both spontaneous and induced by
human AChE, (3) investigation of albumin glycation and its role in the onset of chronic complications of diabetes mellitus.
During her carrer, international
scientific collaborations have been established with the
pharmaceutical Spanish company Neuropharma S.A., the University of
Barcelona (Spain), the Institute of General Organic Chemistry
(Madrid, Spain) and with Dr N.H. Greig at the Drug Design and
Development Section (GRC/NIA/NIH, Baltimore, USA).
Since 2008 she is member of the organizing and scientific committees of the Summer school on Pharmaceutical Analysis and, since 2012, she is member of the editorial board of the journal "Chromatographia". In 2013 she acted as scientific secretary of the International Symposium on Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis (PBA2017) and in 2017 she was member of the scientific committee and acted as scientific secretary of the international congress on the Recent Developments on Pharmaceutical Analysis ed. 2017 (RDPA2017). Since 2018 she is also member of the scientific commette of the congress MS Pharmaday.
Prof Bartolini is
the author of 106 papers on international journals, 2 chapters in
books (ILM publications and Società Editrice Esclulapio), 2
international patents and several oral communications at
international congresses.
