Short Bio

PhD in Computer Science (2001). Full Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Bologna. His research fields include: Wireless Systems and Networks (communication protocols, performance evaluation), Internet of Things (platforms and services), Digital Twin (connected to Artificial Intelligence), Smart Cities (in particular, Smart Mobility and Smart Energy Systems), and Mobile Applications (Android, iOS).

Actively involved in national and international (EU) research projects and author of more than 160 peer-reviewed publications, he received best paper awards, best editor awards, and certificates of appreciation by Elsevier, IEEE and ACM for conferences' and special issues' organization. Associate Editor of 5 international journals (+10 special issues), he worked as chair and TPC member in more than 15 and 200 IEEE/ACM international conferences, respectively.

He is listed in the "World's top 2% of scientists of their main subfield discipline” (V3 August 2021) and top 1% (0,88) Computer Science (all fields) on ScholarGPS (2024).

The office hours for reception of students must be requested via e-mail to (luciano.bononi@unibo.it), and are possible Monday-Friday (9.00am - 6.30pm). Please use well configured e-mail accounts to send your requests.
Also, please include appropriate subject, motivation for request and a proposal of your preferred days/hours, together with your name and contact information.
