Curriculum vitae

Gloria Bazzocchi has been an associate professor at the University of Bologna since 2010. She researches mainly in translation and language, as well as in the contrast between Italian and Spanish. She is particularly interested in the translation of children’s literature, the translation of terminology used by young people, the translation of poetry, as well as the teaching of translation. She has participated in several national and international projects and collaborated with study centres and magazines in Spain.

Education

Professor Bazzocchi holds a degree in Languages and Modern Foreign Literatures from the University of Bologna (final grade: full marks with honours). Her final thesis, under the supervision and co-supervision of Prof. Piero Menarini and Prof. Rinaldo Froldi respectively, was on the critical editing of Los tres mayores prodigios (a zarzuela by an anonymous author at the end of the 17th Century), now held in the “Palatina” library in Parma. Her thesis was worthy of entry to the Doctorate in Hispanic Research at the University of Bologna in 1990 and 1991.

Academic Career

After having worked from 1991 to 2005 as a lecturer at the Sslmit department of the University of Bologna in Forlì, in 2005 Prof. Bazzocchi became a Researcher in Spanish Language and Translation (L LIN 07).

Prof. Bazzocchi has been an associated professor at the University of Bologna (School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Interpreting and Translation) (in L-LIN 07) since 2010.

Teaching Activity

Prof. Bazzocchi has worked as a lecturer in Spanish Literature (1991-1994), in Language, Culture and Institutions in Hispanic Countries (1996-2002), Spanish Language (2001-2003), Translation from Spanish to Italian (1996-1998 and 2004-2005) and Linguistic Mediation between Italian and Spanish (2001-2005). Since 2005, she has taught courses in Translation from Spanish to Italian and Spanish Literature in both the undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

She is currently teaching Translation from Spanish into Italian and Translation for the Publishing Industry (Spanish).

Since 1995 Prof. Bazzocchi does research in didactics, literature and translation

She has participated in the following national and international projects:

Institutional and Academic Activity

Since 2012, Prof. Bazzocchi has been a member of the Joint Commission of the Vice-presidency of the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Interpreting and Translation in Forlì and a representative for teaching in the DIT; member of the Committee of the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, Interpreting and Translation, as well as the Joint Commission.

From 2009 to 2012 she was President of the Sslmit Teaching Commission.

From 2012 to 2015 she was a member of the Committee of the DIT in Forlì, representing the associated professors.

She is responsible for the Spanish section of the DIT this academic year (2018-2019)

She is a member of the Committee of the Linguistic and Intercultural Mediation course and of the Master’s in specialized Translation (she is also a member of Quality Assurance Commission). She is in charge of the following Erasmus exchanges: Granada, Málaga, Murcia, Valladolid (Campus de Soria), Vitoria and Zaragoza.

She is a member of Aispi (Associazione Ispanisti Italiani), Aih (Asociación internacional de hispanistas) and Anilij (Asociación Nacional de Investigación en Literatura Infantil y Juvenil).

She is also a member of the DIT “Centro di Studi interdisciplinari sulla Mediazione e la Traduzione a opera di e per Ragazze/i METRA”.

Scientific and Editorial Committees

Prof. Bazzocchi is a member of Anuario Anilij (Universidad de Vigo-España) and of the online magazines Ocnos (Universidad de Castilla La Mancha), Ondina (Universidad de Zaragoza) and Cadernos do Mediador (Universidad de Santiago de Compostela), all of which deal with children’s and adolescents’ literature.
