Recovering Critical Raw Materials from mining residues: the legacy of INCO-Piles Project

Mining residues (stockpiles and tailings) are strategic to recover Critical Raw Materials (CRMs), however technological gaps still exist.

INCO-Piles Project aimed to define best practices for CRMs recovery; moreover, the Project promoted technologies transfer by organizing dedicated Round Tables with invitation of International experts.

Currently, its legacy aims to promote the sustainable exploration and mining of Critical Raw Materials in Southern Europe, especially exploiting the potential of mining residues

The target is to propose and apply game-changing techniques in minerals retreatment from stockpiles and tailings for practical application in the Mediterannean Region.
