Professional Career

From 2009 member of the Association of Engineers of Province of Bologna.

Works as professional engineer (civil-environmental sector) in the years 2009-2015. Main activity concerns the design of shallow geothermal systems and technical support in the realization of research projects.

In the year 2019, holder of a Collaboration Contract with BBT - Brenner Basis Tunnel for the development of the geothermal potential of the tunnel system.

 

Education and training

2012. PhD in Geoenginnering, Georesources and Geotechnical Engineering – School of Civil Engineering and Architecture – University of Bologna. Title of the Thesis: “The probabilistic characterization of underground as a tool for the optimization of integrated design of shallow geothermal systems”.

Tutor: Prof. Eng. Roberto Bruno.

2007. Master Degree in Environmental Engineering – Geoengineering. University of Bologna
Title of the thesis: “Thermal exchange models in well based upon geothermal characterization of a low enthalpy reservoir – Sensitivity study on the efficiency of conditioning systems with heat pump”. Winner thesis of the prize “Gustavo Sclocchi Thesis Award 2007” as best Italian thesis on geothermal resource.

June 2023 - Qualified Full Professor in the Academic Sector 08/A2 (Sanitary and environmental engineering, hydrocarbons and underground fluids, safety and protection in civil activities), with reference to the Scientific Sector Ing-Ind/28 (Excavation Engineering and Safety).

June 2019 - Appointed "Subject-matter expert" for the Scientific Sectors Ing-Ind/28 (Excavation Engineering and Safety) and Ing-Ind/30 (Hydrocarbons and Underground Fluids), by the Council of Environmental Engineering Degree, University of Bologna.

December 2018 - Winner of DICAM Best Paper Award for the scientific work "Exploitation of geothermal energy using tunnel lining technology in a mountain environment. A feasibility study for the Brenner Base tunnel–BBT", published on the journal "Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology".
