My research activity is structured around four main areas of investigation:
-
Historical and theoretical reconstruction of modern and contemporary liberalism, with a specific focus on the thought of Benjamin Constant, Alexis de Tocqueville, and Raymond Aron, examined both from a theoretical-political perspective and within their historical contexts.
-
The genesis and development of the concepts of state and sovereignty, analyzed from the early modern period to the contemporary age through the work of authors such as Bertrand de Jouvenel and Raymond Aron, combining theoretical reflection with historical interpretation.
-
Political theory and international relations, explored both through the study of key thinkers—including Immanuel Kant, Benjamin Constant, Alexis de Tocqueville, Gustave de Molinari, Norman Angell, and Raymond Aron—and through the analysis of major schools of thought and core concepts such as political realism and liberal internationalism.
-
Utopian thought, with a focus on Thomas More, considered also in relation to international political thought and to normative alternatives to existing political orders.
