Francesco Raschi

Full Professor of History of Political Thought at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, University of Bologna. His main research interests lie in the history of modern and contemporary political thought, with a particular focus on post-revolutionary liberalism (especially Benjamin Constant and Alexis de Tocqueville) and twentieth-century liberalism (Raymond Aron, Isaiah Berlin, Friedrich A. von Hayek, and Bertrand de Jouvenel). His current research focuses on the concepts of war and peace in liberal political thought between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

From 2020 to 2025, he served as Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree Programme in International and Diplomatic Sciences (SID). From 2023 to 2025, he also served as Coordinator of the international Bachelor's Degree Programme in International Studies (BIS). In May 2024, he was appointed Delegate for Teaching and Chair of the Teaching Committee of the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Bologna.
