Teaching

Dissertation topics suggested by the teacher.

Suggested dissertation with internship (preparation for the final examination) for DHDK students (or students from other LM interested in the theotetical and methodological implications of the work):

  1. Data Vaults for Digital Heritage acquisition and processing: how to organize a long-term repository for digital objects created in the ADLAB laboratory and exposed in the FICLIT DL, able also support study and dissemination activities. The idea is to experiment Fedora application to manage digital objects together with metadata in RDF. Internship at ADLAB with DH.ARC support.
  2. Archiving and indexing native digital media about opera: organize a repository for TCBo digital materials produced between 2002 and 2017. Materials are images and videos in various formats on different media. The goal is to understand how to structure a repository capable of preserving the original format, but also to deal with a possible other format for allowing the use of those materiale, and to manage its indexing on chronology and repertoire. Internship at MdM with DH.ARC support.
  3. UI for semantic annotation: a case study for the identification of relationships between madrigal poetic texts. Starting from a case study, represented by RePIM (a reference repertoire for research on Italian secular music from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries) to develop in ResearchSpace, the idea is to create a feature that allows users to note the relationship between a music text and the poetic source, identified through researches on the system. The thesis, in addition to the development, should experiment the methodology to validate the semantic correspondence between UI and persisted graph. Internship at DH.ARC with Villa I Tatti advice.
