Curriculum vitae

Federica Tarabusi is Associate Professor at the Department of Education Studies, where she teaches Cultural Anthropology and Anthropology of Migration. She is actually part of the board of the Italian Society for Applied Anthropology (SIAA) and co-founder of SIAA-AppLab, Laboratorio di Antropologia Applicata ai servizi educativi, sociali e sanitari; part of the academic board of the Doctoral program Patrimonio immateriale nell'innovazione socio-culturale; member of the scientific board of both the Centre of Gender and Education Studies (CSGE) and the research center on Mobility Diversity and social Inclusion (MODI) at the Department of Education Studies.

Her research interests include development policies, anthropology of aid and decentralized cooperation, ethnography of multiculturalism, local reception policies towards migrants, second generation immigrants, gender and migration, collaborative and applied anthropology. She has undertaken ethnographic research in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Italy. Since 2018-2019 she is the director of the MA program in "International cooperation and educational inclusion: new professional challenges". She belongs to the Editorial Management of Rivista di Antropologia contemporanea, the scientific board of Antropologia series “Contaminazioni” (Licosia editore) and Antropologia Culturale series "Interculture", (Junior Editore).

She has published 3 monographs and numerous articles in Italian (Etnoantropologia, Antropologia, Lares, l'Uomo, Antropologia Pubblica, Dada, Educazione Interculturale, Archivio Antropologico Mediterraneo, AG-ABOUT GENDER, Mondi Migranti, Antropologia Pubblica, Autonomie Locali e servizi sociali) and international journals (Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, FOCAAL - Journal of Global and Historical Anthropology; Human Organization; JUNCO – Journal of Universities and International Development Cooperation). She is the co-editor of 4 journal issues and two edited books. Among her recent publications one counts the following articles: Building boundaries in making policies. Exploring the local construction of migrants in multicultural Italy (2022); (con Z.T. Lofranco) Balcanismo e costruzione sociale delle migrazioni forzate in Italia: esplorazioni antropologiche (2021); Development, Balkanism, and new (im)moralities in postsocialist Bosnia-Herzegovina (2020).
