On this topic she has published a book in 2013, dealing with the heritage of the slave trade in Africa, where she has carried out several months of fieldwork research in 2003-2004 (Senegal) and 2008 (Mozambique).
She is also interested on cultural itineraries and the promotion of cultural heritage as a tool for territorial development, on tourism-driven local development, on community conservation of the environment in Subsaharan Africa.
Moreover, she has recently developed a new research interest, focusing on climate change and how societies act to manage it through adaptation and mitigation strategies and she has already worked on a couple of article on the topic.
